Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a caring and reliable Support Assistant for its sheltered housing scheme at St Johns Court. You will provide day-to-day support to residents, help maintain independence, liaise with care professionals and family members, and promote social activities.

This role is 22.5 hours per week on a rota basis, including mornings and evenings, with potential cover at other schemes. DBS checks and Right to Work in the UK are required.

We are looking for a caring and reliable Support Assistant to join our sheltered housing team at St Johns Court, one of Portsmouth City Council's Category 2.5 Sheltered Housing Schemes. Working alongside the Scheme Manager, you will provide day-to-day support to residents, helping them maintain their independence and wellbeing. Duties include responding to residents' needs, liaising with care professionals and family members, maintaining support records, assisting with meal services, promoting social activities, and helping to ensure the safety and security of the scheme. This is a varied role that requires compassion, resilience and the ability to work independently when required.

The position is for 22.5 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Sunday, including Bank Holidays, with shifts between 7.00am and 10.00pm. Flexibility is essential, as you may occasionally be required to work at other sheltered housing schemes and cover staff absence to ensure continuity of service.

This role works on a 2 week rota Monday to Sunday, both days and evenings details on which to be confirmed on appointment.
