2-3 months contract with a local authority Job Purpose

  • The Team Manager will provide operational management and leadership support across the service supporting the Associate Director of Safeguarding and other Heads of Service. They will be responsible for managing two Assistant Team Managers, Senior Practitioners, and Social Workers.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • The role will ensure high levels of quality interventions, effective case management oversight, decision making, and overall performance in the best interest of children, young people, and their families.
  • They will use the social work practice model, Signs of Safety, agreed quality standards, and operating procedures.
  • This role will represent at operational and strategic multi-agency and other meetings as appropriate.
  • The role will lead the team's professional development and have a strong understanding of the people's policies to maximize productivity, performance, and achieve the best outcomes for children, young people, their families, and our workforce’s development. In all roles across the post holders will be expected to develop and lead a culture of partnership and innovation, so that services are child-focused, flexible, and adaptable.
  • The whole organisation should learn from mistakes, share knowledge, and challenge existing practice.

Essential Experience Required
  • Significant social work practice and experience of working on safeguarding cases, some of which are complex, including preparing for and presenting evidence in court.
  • Experience of managing case workers who deliver social work with children, young people, and their parents/families with safeguarding issues.
  • Experience of permanency planning and supporting practitioners to ensure thorough and thoughtful care planning for children.
Essential Qualification Required
  • Educated to a degree level with a relevant professional qualification in social work.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field i.e. social work, leadership, and management.
  • Active Social Work England registration and proven evidence of continuing professional development.
Additional information to note
  • Working hours: 37 hours per week
  • The role requires an Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child)
  • The role closes 30th July 2025, apply ASAP.
