Required Qualifications & Skills:
The following qualifications are essential:
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant experience with children in the UK with 2 professional references
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Proof of address (recent within 3 months)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Overseas Police Check if applicable (if you've been outside the UK for more than 6 months in the past 5 years)
Day-to-day duties:
- Supervising pupils and ensuring engagement in classwork
- Encouraging interaction among pupils
- Helping pupils become more independent in learning
- Establishing trust and interacting according to individual needs
- Assisting with tasks as needed
- Creating a safe and positive classroom environment
- Promoting good behavior and managing conflicts
- Collecting and returning completed work
- Supervising pupils before and after school and during breaks
- Providing feedback on pupil achievement and progress
Ideally, you will have:
- Basic understanding of the national Key Stage Curriculum
- Knowledge of child development and learning
- Skills for self-evaluation and continuous improvement
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to cover various lessons confidently
- Capability to manage a class of mixed-ability pupils
- Focus and ability to keep students on task
- Constructive feedback skills to promote positive self-esteem
- Dedication to building positive relationships with pupils
- Empathy and understanding for sensitive issues
