Job summary

New College Durham is expanding its supply pool of Learning Support Assistants to provide flexible assessment, lecturing, learner support or administration work across the College and Adult Learning venues.

You will support learners in the classroom, including those with complex medical needs and require intimate care, working with cross-College staff to help students access learning and progress.

Qualifications

• Experience with students with complex medical needs and intimate care requirements.
• Ideal candidate will have Learning Support/Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Maths and English skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Support learners predominantly in the classroom to enable access to learning and progress.
• Collaborate with cross-College lecturing and support staff to meet learners' needs.
• Assignments may range from a couple hours a week to full-time across College locations.

Job description

The College currently administers its own supply pool of staff for assignments on a casual basis and is available for individuals who wish to undertake assessing, lecturing, learner support or administration work. Opportunities occur across the entire College in curriculum and in the various administrative centers within the College together with Adult Learning courses at various venues within the local community. Assignments can be as little as a couple hours a week up to full time working and many supply pool staff have gone on fixed term and permanent posts within the College.

The College is currently seeking to increase its pool of Learning Support Assistants We’re looking to recruit dynamic and motivated Learning Support Assistant's through our supply pool.We are particularly looking for individuals who have experience of working with students with complex medical needs and require intimate care. You will support learners predominantly in the classroom enabling them to access their learning and progress positively to their next step. You will work collaboratively with cross College lecturing and support staff to meet the needs of learners accessing a variety of College programmes.

Ideally you will have experience in a similar role or a Learning Support/Teaching Assistant Qualification. Maths and English are also required.
