Role & Responsibilities:

The primary function of this position is the development of supply plans for designated production facilities and production lines that attempt to understand and optimize planned milk utilization. This includes optimizing costs and service in support of Customer Service initiatives, milk utilization objectives, and company profitability plans. The role actively manages the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure a balance between customer service, manufacturing effectiveness, inventory investment, and spoilage avoidance. It also involves managing finished goods inventory investments, overseeing utilization plans for warehouse facilities and transportation lanes, tracking and reporting production, supply, and fulfillment issues, analyzing capacity utilization, and supporting business cases for capacity expansion or network re-alignment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Supply Network Planner is responsible for activities including:

  • Evaluating supply chain opportunities to optimize total cost and service.
  • Developing & maintaining an 18-month forward-looking outlook of production, milk utilization, asset utilization, and inventory projections.
  • Managing capacity planning models for multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborating with Membership to understand planned milk supply.
  • Conducting monthly Supply Agreement processes to support S&OP, addressing supply and demand imbalances.
  • Establishing inventory planning and production scheduling parameters for manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with procurement and plant operations to align raw materials, production, and finished goods strategies.
  • Leading capacity and inventory review discussions within S&OP meetings.
  • Analyzing and reviewing inventory policies quarterly to minimize spoilage and maximize service and inventory turns.
  • Developing and executing product run rate reviews and capacity definitions with plant leadership.
  • Analyzing inventory investment costs and trends in alignment with company objectives.
  • Recommending and implementing process and strategy changes to reduce supply chain costs.
  • Performing all responsibilities in accordance with Upstate Niagara Cooperative’s policies, procedures, and core values.
  • Managing planning activities and acting as the main interface among manufacturing, logistics, marketing, and finance within S&OP.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or related field with 5+ years of planning experience.
  • APICS certification or progress towards certification.
  • Strong analytical skills with spreadsheets and statistics.
  • Basic financial analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, and customer service processes.
  • Experience in Sales and Operations Planning.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position primarily operates in a fast-paced office environment, requiring teamwork and individual analysis. Must be comfortable sitting/standing for extended periods and operating standard office equipment. Periodic travel to plants or for customer interactions may be required.

Pay Range: $71,700 - $100,400 annually

*The salary range is indicative; actual compensation varies based on experience, education, and other factors. It includes total rewards such as health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and holidays.
