Job description

What will you do on the programme?

Planning is at the heart of everything we do – it ensures we have the right materials, at the right time, in the right place, to support complex engineering projects and keep things running smoothly. On this graduate programme, you’ll learn how to bring together demand, supply and operations planning to help us deliver smarter, more efficient outcomes. From supporting daily operations to contributing to long‑term planning decisions, you’ll get involved in everything from analysing material flows and reviewing supplier performance to responding to part shortages and supporting real‑time production priorities. You might help prepare for monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) reviews or collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine forecasts and optimise supply routes. Throughout the programme, you’ll work closely with planners, engineers and suppliers, building your confidence and developing a solid foundation in modern supply chain and planning practices. This is an opportunity to build expertise in a fast‑paced, business‑critical environment where your ideas and input will be valued from the start.

How is the programme structured?

Over two years, you’ll complete three structured placements designed to give you broad exposure to the planning lifecycle. Each rotation focuses on a different aspect of supply chain planning, helping you understand how demand, supply and operations all connect to keep projects moving forward. You’ll spend time in core planning roles such as Production Planning and Material Planning, and you may also gain experience in areas like Integrated Business Planning or Master Production Scheduling. This variety gives you the chance to build confidence, develop practical skills and discover where your strengths and interests lie.

How do we develop and support you?

From day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond. You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert‑led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing. There may also be opportunities to work toward accreditation with the Institute of Supply Chain Management (IOSCM) – helping you build recognised credentials as your career progresses.

What’s waiting for you after the programme?

Upon completing the programme, you'll transition into a permanent role within Supply Chain Planning. From there, your development doesn’t stop. We’ll support you as you grow into more senior roles and take on greater responsibility. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped‑out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.

What rewards and benefits will you get?

We want you to feel supported, valued and excited about what’s ahead. That’s why we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your development, your wellbeing and your life outside of work too. In addition to a minimum starting salary of £35,000, you’ll benefit from:

  • A minimum of 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays
  • Generous pension and employee share schemes
  • Flexible benefits, including cycle to work scheme, discounts
  • Wellbeing support, covering mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing, with services like our Employee Assistance Programme, digital GP service, and health checks.

You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach activities and volunteering opportunities.

Where will you be based?

Places on our Supply Chain Planning programme for September 2027 are available in our Marine sector in Rosyth. Our 320‑acre Rosyth facility is home to one of the largest and most modern waterside advanced manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. At Rosyth, we specialise in the design, build and through‑life support of complex naval and commercial marine assets. Agile working is supported, but you’ll be expected to work on‑site multiple times a week and will need to be on‑site for operational planning. By your start date, you must be able to reliably commute to the site. This will normally require living within a reasonable commuting distance of Rosyth or relocating before you join us. Once you’ve successfully completed the programme, you’ll continue your career in the same location, so it’s worth considering this when applying.

  • You’ll need to have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, along with a demonstrable interest in supply chain.
  • Many of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. For further details, visit GOV.UK and search ’United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels’.
