Job Title: Supply Chain Planner Buyer

This role will focus on:

This is an 18-month fixed term contract to cover Maternity leave.

Role Purpose:

To plan, organise and control purchased materials for your procurement commodity, ensuring the correct components are supplied at the right time, in the most cost-effective and economical way possible to achieve 100% on time customer delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Commodity Buyer in procurement & sourcing exercises whilst maintaining routine operational requirements.
  2. Provide assistance in supplier tender and RFQ processing, update & maintain quote information and update open Purchase Order lines.
  3. Contribute to reduction of category activity to reduce TCO, volume of purchase orders raised & transportation costs.
  4. Identify and lead opportunities within the business, function and designated category to drive performance in supply, cost, quality, innovation and risk, continuous improvement, lean supply, waste reduction and value add initiatives and report through GEM measures.
  5. Liaise with internal customers and external suppliers thus ensuring the timely supply of components and services.
  6. Motivate, on behalf of the business, effective supplier relationships, ensuring Balance Scorecard Metrics are accurate and reporting on supplier performance issues.
  7. Plan, schedule and expedite supply requirements via MRP output to meet production requirements and inventory goals against agreed safety levels, communicating with suppliers to ensure they reflect operational requirements and meet demands.
  8. Send approved Purchase orders, including Kanban, Stock, Discrete, Non-stock & Consignment.
  9. Control reject orders & review stock levels to determine new orders to be raised.
  10. Ensure timely management of Purchasing inbox and order acknowledgements & open order reports.
  11. Negotiate and maintain pricing where there is a discrepancy on order acknowledgement.
  12. Manage and prevent invoice queries.
  13. Transact stock movements to external suppliers through non-stock despatcher process for external operations at sub-contractors.
  14. Own the timely customs clearance and C88 / SAD processing for your commodity, liaising with suppliers and freight forwarders regarding any discrepancies or queries.
  15. Handle general supplier correspondence, maintaining supplier details & documentation.
  16. Record & maintain Supplier Approval Certifications including ISO, Supplier Sustainability Codes, request for information forms, policies and other supplier information such as supplier questionnaires, visit reports, material compliance data etc.
  17. Ensure appropriate specifications are supplied to suppliers in support of ECO process & revision control on Purchase Orders.
  18. Assist with set up and maintenance of item planning parameters such as lead times, standard / minimum order quantities etc. in accordance with the SIOP material design.
  19. Participate in and contribute to Self-Directed Teams / Daily Management reporting and maintain timely updates.
  20. Assist in identifying and resolving, via root cause analysis, inventory errors, shortages, late customer deliveries & supplier performance.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Previous Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Buyer/Planner or equivalent within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Negotiation experience, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Analytical and the ability to interpret data to provide strategic and tactical solutions.
  • Purchasing complex items and understanding the technical issues involved.
  • Extensive experience of product planning and procurement systems.

Qualifications:

CIPS Level 4 Foundation Diploma Qualified or part qualified or equivalent.
