Job summary

Walker & Son, part of the Samworth Brothers group, seeks an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead the end-to-end supply chain at our busy Leicester bakery site. You will drive planning, scheduling, materials management, logistics and despatch to ensure OTIF performance while controlling costs.

About The Role

Walker & Son is a fast-paced, highly successful food manufacturing business operating within the Samworth Brothers Group. We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead the end-to-end supply chain function at our busy Leicester bakery site. This is a high-profile role where you will play a critical part in delivering exceptional customer service, driving operational performance and supporting future growth. As Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for leading Planning, Scheduling, Materials Management, Logistics and Despatch, ensuring customers receive products On Time In Full (OTIF) while maintaining operational efficiency and cost control. Reporting directly to the Site Director, you will help shape the strategic direction of the site whilst leading a large and diverse team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the site's end-to-end supply chain strategy, aligning planning, logistics and inventory management with business objectives.
• Drive and develop the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, balancing customer demand, operational capacity and service performance.
• Manage and develop Planning, Scheduling, Materials Management and Despatch teams, creating a high-performing and engaged function.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding OTIF performance.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, capacity optimisation and future business growth

• Proven experience leading supply chain and planning teams within a fast-paced FMCG or food manufacturing environment.

• Strong analytical capability with experience developing capacity models, interpreting complex data and supporting investment decisions.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions, suppliers and customers at senior level.
