Morson is working with the UK's leading Defence Manufacturer, which is looking for a Supply Chain Lead to join its team.

Role Description: Working within the Warship Support Maritime Services Supply Chain, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering procurement and supply chain activities associated with a defined area. The role includes supporting the development of procurement and supply chain strategies and plans, engaging and managing suppliers, projects, and other stakeholders to achieve project and business objectives. Additionally, the role involves coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to drive performance.

The Supply Chain Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day procurement of materials and subcontract services, ensuring requirements related to cost, quality, delivery, and export control are met competitively in line with company requirements.

Core Duties:

1. Support and/or prepare outputs and deliverables, and select suppliers in accordance with departmental procedures and systems.
2. Negotiate all commercial, financial, quality, and schedule elements of contracts and any authorized changes, following departmental procedures.
3. Proactively support effective supplier management and manage open order books aligned with the project's integrated schedule.
4. Support the Line Manager in delivering KPIs.
5. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
6. Identify risks, opportunities, and mitigation plans, and implement them accordingly.
7. Act as the primary contact with assigned suppliers and customers (internal/external).
8. Understand and adhere to the company's Export Control requirements.
9. Be the first point of contact for escalations within the Supply Chain team.
10. Support areas outside of this scope as required by business needs.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Experience of Procurement / Supply Chain Department.
• Knowledge of commercial and contractual principles.
• Working understanding of tool sets and IT systems (SAP desirable but not essential).
• Experience and understanding of MRP.
• Working knowledge of Purchase to Pay processes.
• Tender process and down-selection experience.

Skills:

• Strong communication skills, able to effectively influence stakeholder management (internal) and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
• Ability to communicate effectively at peer and management levels, both internally and externally.
• Strong, ethical, and value-driven negotiation skills.
