Supply Chain Lead

Location: Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum (negotiable for the right experience)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 2 shift patterns available

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading food manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Supply Chain Lead to join their team at their Cross Hands site.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in a newly created position, with responsibility for ensuring materials, stock and packaging are available to support production and customer requirements. You'll work closely with Production Planning, Procurement and Warehouse teams to coordinate material requirements, maintain accurate inventory levels, oversee stock rotation and ensure a consistent flow of materials throughout the operation.

What you’ll be doing

As Supply Chain Lead, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the right materials and products are available at the right time, maintaining stock accuracy, minimising waste and supporting the efficient running of a busy food manufacturing operation.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with Production Planners to coordinate material and product requirements, ensuring the correct stock is available to support production schedules, customer demand and to maintain an efficient flow of materials with accurate stock information.
  • Managing inventory levels, ensuring stock accuracy, product availability and efficient utilisation of warehouse capacity, supporting regular stock counts, audits and stock reconciliation activities.
  • Overseeing stock rotation processes to minimise waste, maintain product availability and reduce the risk of obsolete stock.
  • Planning and placing orders for raw materials and packaging in line with production requirements and demand forecasts.
  • Monitoring material availability, identifying potential shortages and taking proactive action to maintain continuity of supply and meet delivery requirements.
  • Analysing stock trends and consumption patterns to optimise inventory levels, reduce excess stock and improve overall efficiency.
  • Monitoring customer orders against forecasts, identifying variances and taking appropriate action to minimise supply shortages and customer service risks.
  • Identifying and resolving day-to-day supply chain issues, communicating effectively with relevant departments to minimise disruption to production.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen inventory accuracy, material availability and operational efficiency.
The experience you’ll bring
  • Previous experience within supply chain, materials planning, inventory management, stock control or logistics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience within food manufacturing, food production or a similarly fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Proven experience managing inventory levels, monitoring stock accuracy and ensuring material availability to support production.
  • Experience planning or coordinating raw material and packaging requirements against production schedules or demand forecasts.
  • Good understanding of stock rotation, inventory optimisation, stock reconciliation and waste reduction.
  • Experience working closely with Production Planning, Procurement and Warehouse departments.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret forecasts, monitor stock trends, identify variances and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to take ownership of operational challenges and work collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory, senior coordination or team leadership capacity would be advantageous.
