Job description

We are currently working with an exciting business that is at the start of their journey, manufacturing a truly unique product and supplying predominantly to food service customers presently, but with a growth strategy to move into retailers when the time is right. Due to continued growth and pressure on the existing team, we are now pleased to be recruiting a Finance and Supply Chain Manager to support the ongoing growth of the business.

Reporting into the MD, this role will be in charge of all financial and performance control functions required of a small manufacturing operation, with some outsourced support provided from an accountancy firm familiar with the business.

Finance
  • Maintain or manage financial records including receipt, input, and production of day-to-day commercial documents and overseeing bookkeeping protocols.
  • Oversee production of Monthly Management Accounts in prescribed P&L and Balance Sheet formats and present narrative of their analysis at monthly investor meetings.
  • Take ownership of budget and forecast models for internal and external scrutiny as required.
  • Control and maximise cash flow through timely collection of debtor book and management of payment of creditor ledgers.
  • Oversee order taking and production of invoices.
Performance Control
  • Evaluate the introduction of software into the company and develop existing systems that maximise customer service and productivity while maintaining business effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a KPI infrastructure to control performance and costs.
  • Provide sales analysis and associated systems to support business development.
  • Provide all other ad-hoc reports, analysis, performance data, and record keeping as required to improve business performance.
  • Maintain accuracy of stock record keeping, rotation, and picking disciplines to minimise stock losses.

In order to be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate a strong grounding in either finance or supply chain and analytics, with a real desire to operate in a rounded role that will give you exposure to all areas of a manufacturing business. You will be adaptable and keen to be part of a growing business with an excellent culture and amazing people.

Due to the ambitious plans for the business, the founders are looking for someone who will thrive in the fast-paced nature of a start-up, able to think creatively to find solutions and be flexible in their approach based on the needs of the business. The founders are prioritising building a strong culture that creates a high-achieving, ambitious but fun place to work, where all employees are valued and given opportunities for career development. They are also looking for someone to help continue to embed these principles.

In addition to the above, you MUST be able to demonstrate that you have worked within a food manufacturing environment; this is non-negotiable from my client.
