Job Summary
Supply Chain Directorate
At a time when Supply Chains are a foundational priority for defence, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Supply Chain Directorate, a key part of the largest and most complex Commercial Function in Government. The MOD spends over £20bn annually across nearly 6,000 contracts, ranging from property and FM, corporate services, complex IT infrastructure and services, food, clothing, and medical supplies to large equipment platforms such as ships, aircraft and vehicles.
The Supply Chain Directorate sits within Defence Commercial. It is responsible for delivering the MODs Strategic Partnering Programme which manages the relationships with our most important suppliers; leads the MOD’s approach to understanding our supply chains and identifying, analysing reporting and mitigating supply chain risk and fragility, and delivers the departments strategic engagement with industry including ins support to small business. We also lead on cross Government supply chain disruption and crisis management as it relates to supply chains.
We provide a range of services to a wide MOD and HMG stakeholder base (Senior Decision Makers, Other Government Departments, Policy Teams, Delivery Teams, and FLCs) our Allies and Industry Partners (UK & Global defence companies of all sizes, as well as Trade Associations & Related Bodies).
We recently launched the Defence Supply Chain Capability Programme (DSCCP) a major transformation project aimed at delivering a step-change improvement in how Defence understands, designs and manages our industrial ecosystem to deliver benefits throughout the end-to-end supply chain. It will enable MOD and Industry, working together as One Defence, to establish a resilient, adaptive and collaborative Defence supply chain that is aligned with Secretary of State’s Defence industrial priorities, acting as a credible deterrent, underpinning our war fighting edge, and driving economic growth across the Defence industrial sector.
We are at the forefront of key supply chain policy decisions and interventions which will fundamentally shape the future for Defence. These include the implementation of Strategic Defence Review which sets the future strategic direction of Defence; shaping thinking for the new Defence Industrial Strategy designed to improve and develop relations with industry and set out the strategic capabilities required for tomorrow; and support work to embed the Supply Chain Directorate in the new National Armament Directorate as part of organisational changes introduced by Defence Reform.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
