Job summary

Siemens Energy in the United Kingdom is seeking a Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer to drive supplier qualification, analyze data, and lead continuous improvement across the supply base.

You will work with cross-functional teams, handle non-conformances, perform root-cause investigations, and travel up to 50% to supplier sites to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• Technical training or further education in quality, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO9001) and SQM processes.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and GD&T.
• Ability to interpret drawings and ensure parts manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Lead PPQs (Product and Process Qualifications) at suppliers.
• Contain and resolve supplier non-conforming components and issues.
• Manage supplier handling of non-conformance and corrective actions.
• Assist with process improvements across the supply chain.
• Lead supplier root-cause investigations using 8D/5 Whys/Ishikawa.
• Investigate manufacturing capability issues to ensure business continuity.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through Supply Chain collaboration.
• Audit suppliers to verify capability and quality systems.
• Develop supplier capability to meet current and future requirements.
• Interact with customer-facing teams to address product non-conformances.
• Maintain presence at supplier sites to support development and improvement.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Lead Product Qualification Activities at Suppliers - Product and Process Qualifications (PPQs)
• Contain, manage and resolve Quality issues relating to supplier non-conforming components identified at Aero-Derivative Gas Turbine (AGT) Siemens Energy assembly facilities, warehouses or customers globally
• Manage suppliers to properly handle non-conformance issues
• Assist with process improvements
• Lead supplier root cause investigations and corrective actions through Problem Resolution process
• Investigate and resolve manufacturing capability issues within the supply chain to ensure business continuity.
• Identify and support cost reduction opportunities through interaction with the Supply Chain/Strategic Business
• Audit existing and potential suppliers to determine capability of manufacturing and ensure quality systems are in place
• Develop supplier capability to meet current and future requirements
• Interact with customer-facing businesses to investigate potential product non-conformances
• Product manufacturing development and improvement via regular in person presence at supplier sites

What You Bring

• Technical training or further education in quality, mechanical, or electrical engineering
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO9001), Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and Quality Control routines
• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of drawing interpretation (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Demonstrated ability to work with design engineering organization to ensure parts are manufacturable
• Proven ability to manage multi-problem investigations simultaneously
• Self-motivated attitude and ownership of projects
• Ability to project manage Product and Process Qualifications and unexpected Supplier Quality Issues from beginning to end
• Knowledge of inspection methodologies and assessment of inspection capability
• Experience working with or at manufacturing facilities
• Experience working with critical parts. (Complex parts such as disc, shaft, complex assemblies)
• Proven track record of application of Quality improvement processes and tools (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
• SAP experience
• In office presence - 3 days min per week
• Travel to suppliers up to 50%
