As Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will be responsible for managing the quality aspects of materials and services provided by external suppliers. The role involves implementing quality assurance processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with suppliers to address quality issues. SQEs work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and engineering, to ensure that sourced components and materials meet the company’s quality standards and regulatory requirements. This position is vital for maintaining supply chain integrity and ensuring that end products meet high standards expected by customers and stakeholders.

The role requires extensive travel within the UK. While reporting to the Head of Supply Chain at Portsmouth, candidates based in the North of the UK are also encouraged to apply to facilitate travel.
Education: Degree in engineering, Quality Management, or related; Apprenticeship qualifications considered.
Experience: 5-7 years in supplier quality engineering or similar.
Skills: Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102; analytical and problem-solving skills; communication; proficiency in quality tools/software (e.g., Minitab, SAP QM); ability to read 3D models and technical files.
Certifications: AS9100, ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or relevant certifications preferred. Experience in the defence sector and knowledge of DEFSTAN, DEFCON, QASOR standards required.
Attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, resilience, adaptability, teamwork, and proactive coaching.
UK right to work, ability to obtain UK security clearance (SC level), and willingness to travel (~60/40%).
