Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories and seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to steward an aerospace-ready supplier base. You will lead qualification, audits, and risk-based improvements across the network, working with procurement, supply chain, and site quality teams.
Travel to suppliers and Isembard sites is expected; you will ensure conformity, traceability and robust supplier performance, influencing delivery and customer confidence.
Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories for critical industries. We combine advanced machine tools, robotics and our own software, MasonOS, to make precision components for aerospace, defence, energy and frontier technology companies, with factories across the UK, US, Germany and France. Our mission is to forge industrial acceleration.
Our parts depend on materials, components and special processes from outside suppliers, and the network can only grow as fast as that supplier base can be trusted.
The Supplier Quality Engineer develops and maintains a capable, aerospace-ready supplier base across Isembard's network, from qualification and risk assessment to performance monitoring and corrective action. It is a central role working with procurement, supply chain, engineering and site quality teams, with the independence to raise concerns and elevate risk without compromising conformity.
Lead supplier qualification and approval: capability assessments, risk-based audits and approved-supplier recommendations.
Define supplier quality requirements, including material certification, conformity documentation, flow-down clauses and special-process approvals.
Monitor supplier performance and prioritise improvement by risk.
Own supplier nonconformance investigations, containment and corrective action, and check the fix worked.
Support receiving and source inspection and first article inspection (AS9102 where applicable).
Review supplier changes and guard against counterfeit parts, unauthorised substitutions and lost traceability.
Build supplier quality standards and records in our QMS and MasonOS, and support customer and certification audits.
Four or more years in supplier quality, manufacturing quality or quality engineering in precision or regulated production.
Working knowledge of AS9100 / EN 9100 or ISO 9001 requirements for external providers, traceability and corrective action.
Experience running supplier assessments or audits.
Practical root cause analysis and corrective action.
Confidence with drawings, specifications, tolerances and certification requirements.
Strong documentation and supplier communication, and willingness to travel to suppliers and sites.
Aerospace, defence, CNC machining or high-mix precision manufacturing.
NADCAP special processes and raw-material traceability.
CMM inspection, GD&T, MSA or SPC.
Lead auditor or comparable quality credentials.
Shape the quality and capability of a growing supplier network.
Build quality systems that work in practice, with a direct effect on delivery and customer confidence.
Location: On-site at our Southwark factory in London, with travel to suppliers and Isembard sites.
