Job summary

Fortescue Pre-Order Sales invites applications for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the Quality department on a contract basis. The role oversees supplier-related quality activities for multiple commodities and works with Programme Management, Engineering and Procurement to ensure fast, compliant delivery of conforming products.

The successful candidate will lead supplier assessments, audits, root-cause analyses and ongoing performance monitoring, while building strong supplier relationships

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Experience in Supplier Quality or Engineering roles.
• Knowledge of quality systems and standards (ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA or AS9100).
• Experience in PPAP and leading APQP processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier quality activities across the supply chain and manage audits.
• Drive 8D, 5-Why and Ishikawa analysis for root cause and corrective actions.
• Develop supplier performance monitoring and onboarding of new suppliers.
• Coordinate quality reviews and lessons learned across programmes.
• Serve as the primary contact for quality concerns in the supply chain.
• Collaborate with engineering and procurement on change requests and DfX.

An opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the Quality department on a contract basis.

About The Role

Responsibility for the Supplier Quality activities across a variety of commodities, within the programmes assigned. Working closely with Programme Management, Engineering and Procurement to fix Supplier-related problems and develop a supply chain that is fit for purpose and delivering conforming product quickly, on time, every time

What you will do

• Lead Supplier Quality activities within the supply chain including Supplier Assessments, Audits and Visits. Supporting and developing the suppliers to deliver Fortescue Zero requirements.
• Problem Solving: drive activities associated with specific non-conforming product, concessions, containments, root cause analysis and problem resolution utilising such techniques as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, etc, leading to a robust Permanent Corrective Action.
• Supply Chain Management: develop and implement a supplier performance monitoring system and other policies to drive continual improvement in the supply chain and on-board new suppliers.
• Drive quality performance reviews and Lesson Learned activities.
• Act as the day-day point of contact for Quality concerns caused by Supply Chain within programme.
• Build a strong relation with suppliers regarding technical matters, development parts and processes from conception through to series production.
• Support engineering change requests, DfX activities and component releases.
• Ability to prioritise supplier development based on risk management.

About You

• Experience in and passion for fast-pace, high-performance and success-driven environments, ideally in large production facilities
• Experience in Problem Solving, NCR, Concessions and Supplier Audits.
• Ability to travel nationally and internationally when required.
• A relevant engineering degree with experience of working in a Supplier Quality or Engineering role.
• Good communication skills and being a good team player.
• Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA, AS9100 or similar is required.
• Experience in reviewing PPAP and leading APQP is required.
• Proven experience on a particular set of commodities is desirable.
