Job summary

TT Electronics Bedlington is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee supplier quality across a critical microelectronics supply chain serving aerospace, defence and medical customers.   • Experience conducting supplier audits and process assessments.

Role Overview And Responsibilities

TT Electronics, Bedlington, is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to be responsible for all aspects of supplier quality for the Microelectronics Value Stream.


As the Supplier Quality Engineer will support and develop our supplier quality performance across a critical microelectronics supply chain serving aerospace, defence and medical customers.


You’ll be responsible for ensuring suppliers consistently meet stringent quality, reliability, compliance, and delivery requirements for high‑reliability electronic assemblies.


Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, you’ll drive supplier improvement activities, manage non‑conformances, support supplier qualification, and ensure robust controls are maintained throughout the supply chain.


Key Responsibilities Include:

Supplier Quality Management


  • Acting as the primary quality interface between the business and external suppliers, manage and develop supplier quality relationships.

  • Monitor supplier performance using key metrics.

  • Lead supplier improvement initiatives to achieve measurable outcomes.

  • Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and process reviews to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.


Quality Assurance & Compliance


  • Support supplier approval, qualification, and ongoing surveillance.

  • Ensure suppliers comply with applicable aerospace, defence and medical quality standards, customer‑specific requirements, and internal procedures.

  • Review supplier documentation including quality plans, inspection reports, certificates of conformity, material certifications, and test data.

  • Support compliance with standards including AS9100 and IPC requirements.

  • Ensure supplier processes support traceability, configuration control, and product integrity requirements.


Non‑Conformance & Corrective Action


  • Lead supplier‑related non‑conformance investigations.

  • Drive structured root cause analysis and verify effectiveness.

  • Manage supplier concessions, deviations, and containment activities where required.

  • Support investigation into customer complaints and field quality issues linked to supplied materials or components.


New Product Introduction (NPI) & Engineering Support


  • Support supplier involvement in new product introduction and manufacturing.

  • Review supplier manufacturing capability, process controls, and inspection methods.

  • Participate in design reviews, supplier technical reviews, and risk assessments.

  • Provide quality input into component selection, sourcing decisions, and manufacturability reviews.


Continuous Improvement


  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier processes, reduce variation, and improve first‑pass yield.

  • Promote a preventative and continuous improvement culture.

  • Implement quality tools.


Qualifications, Skills And Attributes

What We Look For:


  • Experience in a Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, or similar role within a high‑reliability manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working with electronic components, microelectronics, semiconductor packaging, PCB assembly, or related technologies.

  • A strong understanding of supplier quality management processes and corrective action.

  • A proven record of results achieved with suppliers from a continuous improvement approach, ideally within electronic component / system manufacturing.

  • Experience conducting supplier audits and process assessments.

  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Knowledge of quality management systems and aerospace/defence requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Practical knowledge of ERP systems, ideally SAP.


The following would enhance your application but are not essential to apply:


  • Experience within aerospace, defence, space, medical, or other regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with AS9100 and customer‑specific requirements.

  • Knowledge of IPC standards, soldering processes, assembly standards, inspection techniques, and reliability testing.

  • Experience with electronic component supply chains and obsolescence management.

  • Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent.


This is an onsite role, based at our Bedlington manufacturing facility, a flagship manufacturing site within the TT Power & TT Components Divisions, manufacturing electronics components, and microelectronic assemblies, within ISO class 6 & class 7 clean room environments. Future growth for the facility is supported with significant investment in product design & manufacturing capability on site.
