Job summary

TT Electronics Bedlington is seeking aJunior Engineer to join our manufacturing engineering team, supporting wire bonding processes for high-reliability microelectronic devices used in aerospace, automotive, medical and defence applications. With full support from the line manager and comprehensive training, you will focus on wire bonding technologies.

Under guidance from senior engineers, you will learn process analytics, apply Six Sigma/ SPC methods to production data, assist in qualification

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of microelectronics / semiconductor assembly & packaging, or materials science.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise wire bonding manufacturing processes.
  • Apply Six Sigma and SPC tools to analyse production data and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in qualification, prototyping, and transfer of new microelectronic packages from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Support preventive maintenance, set up, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain robust engineering documentation.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Test Engineering, and Production teams to meet customer specs and delivery schedules.

Role Overview And Responsibilities

TT Electronics, Bedlington, have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Engineer to join our manufacturing engineering team, working alongside senior process engineers, equipment technicians, and Quality to support the manufacturing of high-reliability microelectronic devices for aerospace, automotive, medical, or defence applications. With the full support of your line manager, coupled with comprehensive training, your core focus will be on wire bonding technologies.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising wire bonding manufacturing processes.
  • Applying Six Sigma and statistical process control (SPC) tools to analyse production data, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Assisting in the qualification, prototyping, and transfer of new microelectronic packages from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Supporting preventive maintenance, set up, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Creating and maintaining robust engineering documentation.
  • Partnering with Quality Assurance, Test Engineering, and Production teams to meet stringent customer specifications and delivery schedules.
Qualifications, Skills And Attributes
What We're Looking For:
  • A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of microelectronics / semiconductor assembly & packaging, or materials science.
The following would enhance your application but are not essential to apply:
  • Previous experience involving cleanrooms, semiconductor manufacturing, or automated machinery.
  • Basic knowledge of DOE (Design of Experiments) and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and statistical methods (e.g., Minitab, Python, JMP, or SPC).
