Job description

Job title:Supplier Development Engineer (24 Months FTC)

Location:Glascoed. On site

Salary: £ 53,928

What you’ll be doing:

  • Defining and agreeing clear technical requirements and confirming the supply chain’s ability to fulfil them
  • Applying APQP tools and techniques to supplier related change projects including but not limited to: Technical Review, First Article Inspection Reporting, Process Control Planning, PFMEA, Measurement Systems Analysis and review of supply chain quality plans
  • Supporting the design and implementation of appropriate supplier development solutions, adopting best practice where necessary to address supplier capability gaps and to ensure the supply chain can meet requirements
  • Leading supplier relationship improvement activities to improve collaborative working, trust and lines of communication
  • Providing coaching to the supply chain in relevant tools and techniques, to support both supplier development and the transfer of best practice across the supply chain
  • Proactively engage across functional teams and with the wider BAE Systems business in the delivery of new technology programmes

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or quality related role
  • Manufacturing process knowledge
  • Prior experience with the application of APQP tools

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with the application of supplier development tools
  • Lead Auditor trained

The Supply Chain Quality Team:

This team sits within the Procurement function and reports directly into the Supplier Quality Manager. You will be working to support Procurement and BAE Systems Land UK in introducing new manufacturing technologies. This role will offer you the chance to work with leading edge technology and to build relationships with a number of diverse suppliers. There may also be the opportunity for international travel.
