A leading public safety organization is seeking a Supervisory Officer for the Community Safety Partnership to enhance community safety in Surrey. This pivotal role involves managing a team, engaging with community stakeholders, and ensuring effective delivery of safety initiatives. The candidate should possess strong leadership skills, knowledge of health and safety legislation, and adaptability to change.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the delivery of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s (SFRS) objectives related to community safety and prevention activities. This position supports Surrey County Council’s vision of creating safer communities through high-quality initiatives aimed at risk reduction and behavioural change.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct line management of partnership coordinators and administrators.
Develop, organise, and deliver support and training for the community partnership team and across SFRS departments.
Forge and sustain relationships with internal teams, SCC community teams, external agencies, and organisations.
Lead community engagement efforts, representing SFRS at all levels and stakeholder meetings.
Manage the delivery of Safe and Well Visits (SAWVs) to vulnerable individuals, either independently or by supporting the partnership team.
Liaise with the environmental affairs and quality assurance officers to ensure SAWVs meet service standards.
Lead and support the recruitment and training of new community partnership staff.
Act as a safeguarding officer, ensuring adherence to service delivery and safeguarding support.
Manage and monitor referrals within the SAWVs system, addressing complaints and poor practices through appropriate training and coaching.
Serve as the primary contact for prevention-based quality assurance processes.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Experience in managing diverse teams in dynamic environments.
Proven ability to handle changing priorities and challenging situations.
Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of engaging and motivating teams internally and externally.
Experience working with emergency services or similar environments is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, People Management Policies, and Performance Management Frameworks.
Competence in Microsoft Office and database management.
Desirable Characteristics:
Watch Commander with experience in community safety roles.
An understanding of the safe and well visit process and prevention activity programs.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, and a full UK driving licence.
Other Requirements:
Expectation to undertake continual professional development.
Flexibility required to work some evenings, weekends, and occasionally outside the county.
Ability to provide resilience within response or Joint Fire Control.
