About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Supervisor with plumbing expertise to join our team at HMP Wayland, a CATEGORY C Adult Male prison. In this role, you will lead a team of skilled tradespeople, including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility's mechanical systems.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate plumbing and mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Water Supply Regulation and Legionella control requirements.
  • Manage safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Plan and execute maintenance projects, ensuring minimal disruption to prison operations.
  • Lead and develop a team, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant plumbing and mechanical engineering certifications (e.g., C&G 6189, 5962, 6019, etc.).
  • Minimum of five years' experience, preferably in FM, secure, military, or healthcare environments.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water, or building service systems.
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulations and Legionella control.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
