Salary: £39,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full-time (39 hours per week)

We are seeking an experienced Plumber who can confidently manage teams and oversee maintenance compliance to join our team at HMP Exeter, a category B local adult male prison. HMP Exeter operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will be committed to ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the facility. Everything we do impacts prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a safe environment for all. We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical, time-sensitive services to HMPPS and are looking for a Mechanical Supervisor with the following qualifications and experience:

1. Five years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
2. Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
3. Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water, or building services systems
4. Experience supervising staff
5. Plumber qualification to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
6. Up-to-date First Aid at Work qualification (desirable)
7. Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management/project management) (desirable)
8. Good Health & Safety knowledge
9. Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills
