Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Plumber who can confidently manage teams and oversee maintenance compliance to join our team at HMP Exeter, a category B local adult male prison. Join a team that works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Exeter functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to operate smoothly. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will contribute to the safe operation of the prison, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference. Minimum Requirements:

1. Five years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
2. Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
3. Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water, or building services systems
4. Experience supervising staff
5. Plumber qualified to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
6. Up-to-date First Aid at Work Qualification (desirable)
7. Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management/project management) (desirable)
8. Good Health & Safety knowledge
9. Excellent organisational, time management, and people skills
