Supervisor - Facilities Management | Full time | 35 hours

Full Time Salary: £28,332 to £30,419

Hours: 35 hours per week | Location: Granton - Edinburgh | Fully On-Site

About the Supervisor - Facilities Management role:

To support the National Museums Collection Centre Site Manager by managing and supervising a team of Facilities Management personnel, to provide a high standard of service in ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and collections throughout the National Museums Scotland estate.

As a Supervisor - Facilities Management at National Museums Scotland you will:

  • To manage a Facilities Management team and allocate day to day assignments, to provide a high standard of service in relation to logistics, cleaning, access and security related matters
  • To manage and allocate personnel to complete health and safety checks, reception duties, contractor activity, monitoring of plant and equipment, site cleaning
  • To be fully conversant with regulations, instructions, and security procedures for the checking of staff, contractors and visitors at the Reception Desk, and undertake these duties when necessary
  • To complete reports on incidents/situations and, where appropriate, make recommendations for change
  • Provide admin support to the Site Manager - NMCC
  • To monitor and maintain cleaning, support, security and safety procedures and, where appropriate, assist in the preparation of new procedures to deal with changing circumstances
  • To provide induction training to new staff and provide refresher/update training to existing staff on new procedures or requirements
  • To be committed to good health and safety and access practice and ensure familiarity with National Museums Scotland health and safety and access policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Respond at all times in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner when dealing with staff, contractors & third parties and members of the public
  • Manage and maintain electronic records of access permissions resulting in the production of swipe card alterations & deletions as well as access permissions.
  • Escorting contractors & third parties

Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Supervisor - Facilities Management:

  • Assists the Site Manager with the development of Facilities Management procedures and instructions
  • Allocation of personnel to routine duties, incidents/situations, and requests for assistance, taking into account the capabilities and potential of individual team members
  • Decisions and problem solving on staff management issues within the immediately managed team
  • Know-how to resolve incidents to a satisfactory outcome, including judgements and decisions regarding when to seek assistance and advice from colleagues.
  • A proven record of managing a multi-discipline team.
  • Driving experience of a 3.5 vehicle
  • Positive and can-do attitude
