Position Summary:
Position Location: UK – Glasgow
Accountable for providing hands-on leadership and direction to teams (15 colleagues) performing product distribution-related processes in the distribution center. Ensures the safe, quality, and profitable execution of all related processes to achieve department targets and facilitates continuous improvement.
A Day in the Life:
- Lead warehouse team (15 members) or multiple teams/leads. Set goals, develop plans, ensure qualified, skilled, experienced, knowledgeable team for compliant, safe, productive operations.
- Lead and participate in process improvement projects related to receiving, shipping, and inventory control of finished goods. Proactively improve processes and reduce waste using PPI methodology and tools.
- Control costs and resources to achieve annual operating plans.
- Own reporting and critical issues to management as needed.
- Order processing through ERP and other hands-on activities – pick, pack for departmental requirements.
- With mentorship from the DC manager, deputise in their absence on agreed duties.
- Ensure that all internal materials are in place to complete order processing daily.
- Ensure relevant Safety protocols are followed (e.g., FLT, Pedestrian, Audits, Gemba, First Aiders) and high safety standards are maintained.
- Ensure Quality compliance within the teams; SOPs, WIs, use of Agile, Shipping requirements, Audit ready, Trackwise, and ensure relevant targets are met.
- Represent Distribution at Customer audits, visits, taking ownership of critical issues, and ensuring focus within teams on customer experience.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Association / Qualification with a professional body in Ops / Manufacturing / Supply Chain.
- NEBOSH or similar Health and Safety qualification preferred.
- Lean / Six Sigma qualifications advantageous.
- Good written and verbal English.
Experience
- Warehouse or similar Operational experience / knowledge of MRP / ERP systems / order management processes.
- Proven leadership behaviors lead people effectively and deliver the required targets.
- Experience in process changes and international logistics and distribution
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to deliver results via team leaders - customer demands and expectations in a pressurised environment.
- Understanding of a warehouse and logistics environment, including manufacturing and external customer demands. This includes experience of working within / across multiple departments.
- Excellent communicator, proactive, pragmatic, and in control.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Warehouse environment, cold storage environments, PPE required, ability to lift weight according to laws.
- Driving license.
