Job summary

Mears Group is actively recruiting a Building Maintenance Supervisor to join our Thurrock team. You will oversee planned, cyclical, and responsive repairs across tenanted properties, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and customer care.

The role is hands-on with leadership responsibilities for trades and subcontractors. We value strong communication, a proactive approach, and a commitment to service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Experience in managing properties and repairs.
  • Experience in scoping works and coding on scheduler rates.
  • Proven experience supervising operatives within repairs & maintenance.
  • Trade background with hands-on building maintenance knowledge.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-trade teams.
  • Ability to carry out inspections and assess work against quality standards.
  • Comfortable working at height and inspecting scaffolding-based works.
  • Strong understanding of planned, cyclical, and responsive repair programmes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organisational and planning skills to manage resources & deadlines.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre- and post-inspections on internal and external properties.
  • Inspect works at height including doors, windows, and snagging on scaffolding.
  • Supervise and coordinate tradespeople and subcontractors across multiple workstreams.
  • Ensure all works meet industry standards and building regulations.
  • Log works and generates reports using PDA systems and Excel.
  • Provide excellent customer care and resolve issues professionally.
  • Monitor productivity, resource allocation, and contract profitability.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality, and compliance.
  • Compile management reports on operational activities and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and company operating procedures.

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (42.5 hours per week)

Salary: £ 43,556.84 per annum + company van, fuel card, and benefits package

About the Role

We're looking for a proactive and experienced Building Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Thurrock. You'll oversee the delivery of planned, cyclical, and responsive repairs across tenanted properties, ensuring works are completed to high standards of quality, safety, and customer care.

Role Responsibilities

  • A full valid UK manual driving licence
  • Experience in the above duties
  • Experience in management of properties
