Job summary

Clancy seeks an experienced CAPEX Supervisor to support water mainlaying projects across Sussex and Kent. This hands-on role leads site teams, ensuring work is delivered on time, safely and to high quality, while coordinating with the client and stakeholders.

You should bring water industry experience, site supervision skills and a strong focus on RAMS, safety, planning and problem solving in a live construction environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in water industry with mainlaying delivery.
• Experience as a Supervisor leading site teams.
• Strong health and safety knowledge in utilities/construction.
• Able to plan, problem-solve and decide in live sites.
• Willing to work weekends/nights/out-of-hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise water mainlaying projects from site set-up through completion.
• Lead site teams, ensuring safety and quality are priorities.
• Plan upcoming works including labour, plant, materials and traffic management.
• Ensure works follow RAMS, construction information and procedures.
• Carry out site inspections and safety audits; implement corrective actions.
• Monitor progress and escalate delays or extra requirements early.
• Promote a right-first-time approach to reduce defects and disruption.
• Coordinate with the client, project team, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate site records and project documentation.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover of mains.
• Ensure teams have training, competency, equipment and information.
• Support weekend, night and out-of-hours activities as required.

As a proud partner to South East Water, we are looking for an experienced CAPEX Supervisor to join our team, supporting the safe and successful delivery of water mainlaying projects across Sussex and Kent.

This is a hands‑on supervisory role where you'll lead and support site teams delivering capital works across the water network. You'll be responsible for ensuring projects are planned and delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, while working closely with project teams, customers, stakeholders and our client.

You’ll lead by example, driving high standards across Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, Operational Delivery and Customer Experience, while ensuring works remain on programme and issues are identified and addressed early.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in...

• Supervise water mainlaying projects from site set-up through construction, testing and completion.
• Lead and support site teams, ensuring safety and quality remain at the forefront of everything we do.
• Plan upcoming works, including labour, plant, materials, access and traffic management requirements.
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved RAMS, construction information and company procedures.
• Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
• Monitor progress against the programme and elevate potential delays, constraints or additional requirements at an early stage.
• Promote a "right first time" approach, reducing defects, rework, delays and customer disruption.
• Coordinate with the client, project management team, subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure works progress effectively.
• Ensure site records and project documentation are completed accurately and maintained throughout the works.
• Support the testing, commissioning and handover of completed water mains.
• Ensure teams have the appropriate training, competency, equipment and information required to undertake their work safely.
• Support operational requirements where necessary, including weekend, night and out-of-hours activities associated with project delivery.

We would love to hear from you if...

You have previous experience within the water industry, with a strong understanding of water mainlaying and the delivery of clean water infrastructure projects.

You are an experienced Supervisor who is confident leading site teams, planning work, solving problems and making decisions in a live construction environment. Understanding the importance of delivering projects safely, efficiently and to programme while maintaining strong relationships with the client and other stakeholders.

A good working knowledge of water main construction, excavations, pipe installation, pressure testing, chlorination, commissioning and reinstatement would be highly advantageous.

You should have a strong understanding of health and safety within the utilities/construction sector.

Ideally, you will hold:

• SSSTS as a minimum, with SMSTS preferred.
• Streetworks Supervisor qualification/card.
• CSCS Gold Card (Supervisor) or equivalent.
• Safe Excavation training.
• Relevant water hygiene training.
• Full UK driving licence.
