Job summary

North Devon is seeking a Supervisor to join the Operational Services team in Barnstaple. Based at Brynsworthy Environment Centre, the role focuses on supervising waste and recycling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and high-quality service to customers.

You will manage staff, conduct appraisals, and resolve staffing issues while using IT applications to support operations. Full training and a Local Government Pension scheme are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising teams to deliver high-quality services.

• Familiarity with health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and technical support to maximise safety, efficiency and effectiveness of Waste & Recycling services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our busy Management team in Barnstaple dedicated to looking after the exceptional environment of North Devon - made up of its coastline, moors and historic urban and rural settlements centred on the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Braunton Burrows. Operational Services is seeking to appoint a Supervisor to:-

• Provide supervision and technical support to maximise the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the Waste & Recycling services
• Be based at Brynsworthy Environment Centre and have experience of dealing diplomatically with a large cross section of employees and customers
• Be a Team member with the ability to motivate others to deliver excellent high quality services to the our customers
• To use a variety of IT apps/packages
• Responsible for carrying out inspections of field and site operations to ensure compliance of operations to safe working practices, to minimise relevant hazards
• You will be required to carry out appraisals, manage sickness levels, deal with disciplinary issues and general staffing issues

You should have a comprehensive knowledge of waste management & street cleansing operations and be familiar with the relevant health and safety legislation.

Full training for every aspect of the post will be provided.
