Job description
Supervising Social Worker – Fostering Team

Sanctuary Personnel has a new permanent position available for a Supervising Social Worker within the Fostering Team to work full time for Synergy Fostering, based in London.

The salary for this permanent Supervising Social Worker job is up to £43,000 per annum.

  • Problem solve issues and advise and support carers in finding solutions to problems they experience in working with young people during placements.
  • Participate in, and undertake actions within, Synergy Fostering child protection and safeguarding procedures and complaints procedures, ensuring any safeguarding concerns are addressed straight away, the Registered Manager is informed immediately and the relevant agencies notified.
  • Observe safe working practices for oneself, colleagues and carers and to adhere to Company Policies regarding Health and Safety.
  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of a foster carer training and development programme (PDP) with a view to the continuous development of quality services for children.
  • Ensure carers have a comprehensive understanding of the Agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop and facilitate Foster Carer Support Groups/network in conjunction with team colleagues.
  • Appropriately match and place children with Synergy’s foster carers, both in a planned and on an emergency duty basis, in conjunction with the Registered Manager/Director and Duty Officer.
  • Undertake development training in keeping with the role of a Supervising Social Worker within Synergy Fostering.
  • Undertake unannounced visits to the foster home at least twice a year.
  • Practice in accordance with equal opportunity legislation and valuing diversity amongst staff, carers and children.
  • Ensures carers are keeping daily records of the child placed in their care and to read, digitally sign weekly records on CHARMS.
  • Keep up to date electronic files on foster carers and send copies of reports, relevant information or documents to the carer.
  • Providing the child’s social worker with placement progress reports, when required, for planning meetings, statutory reviews and child protection case conferences.
  • Supervising Social Workers will from time to time as directed by Registered Manager undertake a review of the outcomes for a child in placement. This review will be documented and evidence in Charms.

Requirements of a Supervising Social Worker:

  • At least two years post qualifying social work experience that is family related with completed ASYE, valid DBS and HCPC registration. (child centred).
  • Must have more than two years’ experience of fostering in a Supervising Social Worker role.
  • Able to illustrate a high level of social work competence and assessment skills.
  • Employment history must include a role held for more than 18 months preferably over two years (loyal).
  • Experience with using electronic systems for case recording (we are a paperless organisation).
  • Salary £36-43k depending on competency and evidenced level of experience.
  • In addition a productivity bonus depending on caseload up to £7200.
  • £3000 per annum travel allowance which would cover costs incurred from use of car and petrol or the cost of a train travel card.
