Commercial Construction Superintendent

This position provides supervision for commercial projects. The commercial superintendent will be able to provide the knowledge, skills and experience required to manage the day-to-day field operations of commercial construction activities. Candidates will supervise subcontractors on site and ensure their compliance with plans, specs, and safety requirements. This position reports to and carries out the direction of the Project Manager/Director of Commercial Construction. This position is a forward face of MCC and is responsible for establishing a professional work environment. This means fostering a positive atmosphere, promoting proactive and effective communication, and resolving conflict in a constructive manner.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of line, grade and survey methods.
2. Maintain current schedule status as well as long term schedule for on-site activities.
3. Manage the day-to-day field activities.
4. Primary on-site liaison with owner/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
5. Maintain/communicate project task list on regular basis.
6. Work with the Project Manager to develop and implement overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site. Report all deviations from the schedule immediately.
7. Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
8. Ensure all permits, notices, signs, and safety materials are properly posted and maintained.
9. Act as on-site liaison to inspection agencies (i.e. city, county, third party inspections, etc.)
10. Ensure that the overall work environment on the job site reflects the philosophy and values of the company.
11. Demonstrate effective communication skills and help ensure positive communication with staff, co-workers, subcontractors, vendors, agencies, owners, and the community.
12. Manage job site employees.
13. Perform/coordinate safety meeting/briefings with subcontractors and Mitch Cox employees on-site and issue minutes to the Project Manager.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally performed in outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is an hourly full-time position. The regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and would include overtime hours as required by projects and deadlines.
