Job summary

RAC is seeking a Superflex Patrol Roadside Mechanic to join the Bournemouth cluster, serving Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, and surrounding towns. You’ll be deployed on local calls, with a focus on getting members back on the road quickly in your designated area.

The role demands flexibility, a strong diagnostic capability, and pride in customer service. You’ll work varied shifts, start/end from home base, and be equipped with a RAC van and tools.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• 5+ years' experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults during roadside assist calls and select safe, effective fixes.
• Carry out fault diagnostics, tyre, battery and related repair work in the field.
• Manage kit, van stock, and complete reports accurately for each job.

Flexibility deserves recognition - and we deliver. As a Superflex Patrol Roadside Mechanic, you'll provide the adaptability our service relies on.

• Competitive salary: £50,669 basic salary, with the opportunity to earn up to £57,000
• Weekly variety: You'll work the on average 40 hours per week across the year, receiving your roster seven days in advance with your core working hours confirmed three days prior.
• Thrive outside of 9-5: Shifts will fall between 06:00 and 02:00, and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Where you'll work You'll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham, Swanage. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

Qualifications and experience

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
