Job summary

Cancer Research UK is seeking a Retail Store Assistant to manage the shop on Sundays at Dunfermline, with keyholder responsibilities and volunteer supervision. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a hourly rate of £12.71 and benefits.

You will help drive fundraising, manage donations and stock, and deliver outstanding customer service in a lively retail environment. Flexibility and commitment to the charity’s mission are essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shop operations on Sundays and take keyholder responsibility (training provided).
• Support a diverse team of volunteers to achieve sales and fundraising targets.
• Review and process donated goods and new stock.
• Generate ideas to create new income with guidance from the Shop Manager.
• Provide excellent customer service to ensure customers feel welcome and valued.
• Maintain shop standards including safeguarding, compliance and health & safety.
• Handle manual handling and physical tasks as part of daily duties.

We’re looking for a motivated retail assistant to join Cancer Research UK’s trading team. You’ll be acting as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK and taking responsibility for the shop on a Sunday.

You’ll also be surrounded by people who are as dedicated to beating cancer as you are.

What will I be doing?

• Overseeing the running of the shop on a Sunday. This includes taking keyholder responsibility (training provided) and supporting a talented and diverse team of volunteers.
• Assisting the wider shop team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.
• Reviewing and processing donated goods and new stock.
• Coming up with creative ideas to help generate new income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.
• Using your customer service skills to make sure our customers and supporters feel welcome and appreciated.
• Maintaining shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance and health and safety.
• There will be a varied amount of manual handling and physical activity required within the day-to-day duties of the role.
