Job summary

Cancer Research UK’s trading team is seeking a motivated Retail store assistant to join us at the Alnwick shop on Sundays, with keyholder responsibilities.

You’ll oversee the running of the shop, lead a volunteer team, drive sales and fundraising targets, and ensure high standards of customer service while safeguarding and health & safety compliance. DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills in a lively retail environment.
• Experience working in a vibrant, busy store.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commercial awareness and relationship-building.
• Flexible to rota-based retail shifts.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the running of the shop on Sundays, with keyholder responsibilities.
• Supporting volunteers and achieving sales and fundraising targets.
• Reviewing donated goods and new stock.
• Generating ideas to create new income with guidance.
• Delivering excellent customer service to customers and supporters.
• Maintaining shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance and health and safety.

What will I be doing?

• Overseeingtherunning of the shop on a Sunday. This includestakingkeyholder responsibility(training provided)and supporting a talented and diverse team of volunteers.

• Assistingthe wider shop team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.

• Reviewingand processingdonatedgoods and newstock.

• Coming up withcreativeideas to help generate new income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.

• Using your customer service skills to make sure our customersandsupporters feelwelcome andappreciated.

• Maintaining shop standardsregardingsafeguarding,compliance and healthand safety.

• There will be a varied amount of manual handling and physical activityrequiredwithin the day-to-day duties of the role.
