Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc invites applications for a 2027 Summer Placement Civil Engineer in Scotland. You will join a UKCS Regional Scotland team, gaining hands-on experience across major infrastructure projects from design to delivery.

Expect to work across site and office environments, developing technical and professional skills while collaborating with experienced engineers and project teams to deliver real impact.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university degree programme in Civil Engineering.
• Available to complete a minimum of an 8-week summer placement (June–September).
• Curious, proactive and motivated to develop professionally.
• Enjoy solving problems and working with others.
• Able to communicate clearly and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Gain practical experience supporting the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Observe and contribute to site and office-based engineering activities.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Support site inspections, surveying, quality assurance, and project monitoring.
