Summer Overnight Camp Lead – YMCA Camp Icaghowan (Daily – Amery, WI)

Overnight Camp Lead (Support Staff) roles we are actively hiring for:

  • Climbing/Challenge Course Director: Oversees all challenge course, high and low ropes activities and elements; facilitates or schedules facilitators; manages equipment inventory; must complete ACT International Advanced Facilitator qualification before camp begins.
  • Trips/Trail Building Director: Manages logistics for adventure trips, including gear, food, and planning for overnight outings and excursions.
  • Waterfront Director: Oversees waterfront programming, equipment, and safety standards; conducts trainings.

Summer Season Dates: May 31 – August 20, 2025

Pay Rate: $87+/day, D.O.E.

Job Summary:

The Overnight Camp Lead manages designated programs or activities, supports camp counselors, and ensures high-quality camper experiences aligned with YMCA values. Responsibilities include lesson planning, program implementation, safety oversight, staff training, camper supervision, emergency response, record keeping, and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment.

Relationships: Reports to Sr. Program Director; interacts with staff, campers, volunteers, and families.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • First Aid & CPR/AED certification (must be completed before supervising youth).
  • Experience in camp or youth programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Work Conditions: Must be physically capable of outdoor activities, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various weather conditions and terrains.
