A leading mental health charity in Leeds is looking for a part-time Suicide Bereavement Practitioner to provide support to individuals affected by suicide. The role includes conducting assessments, offering both one-on-one and group support, and requires personal experience of being affected by suicide. This position also emphasizes the importance of living core values in daily interactions, and is based across different locations in West Yorkshire.

Our ServiceWest Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (WY ICB) and Public Health in Leeds commission the delivery of ‘Postvention’ services to support people bereaved by suicide across West Yorkshire. The services support people in the immediate aftermath of a suicide as well as historical losses. Postvention is an internationally evidenced way of reducing risk of suicide in people who have been affected in this manner. Interventions offered within this service include peer led support for individuals, within groups and for families with children, and memorial events.
The Suicide Bereavement Service covers the following areas; Bradford, Keighley & Craven, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. The post holder will cover the specific locations of Calderdale.
The Role
The post holder will be employed by Leeds Mind and part of the regional team, based at different locations offering a range of interventions to people who have been bereaved by suicide.
The role will include:
· Assessment of need to identify the appropriate intervention to meet their needs
· 1.1 support for up to 6 sessions including practical, advocacy and emotional support
· Group support including skills course and peer support groups
Essential Skills and Experience:
Hours – 30
Salary – £28,164 pro rata
Contract – Fixed Term until March ‘27

The role will be based across Leeds and West Yorkshire with some remote working from home.
