THE ROLE

The Subtitling and Scripting Operator is part of the Subtitling and Scripting team within the Operations Department at DMS. This team handles transcription, localisation, and delivery of subtitle and script files for both domestic and international clients. The role involves working with pre-release content and trailers using programs like EZTitles.

Main Duties

1. Manually transcribe new content into various formats.
2. Utilise automation tools for creating subtitle and script files.
3. Perform quality checks on subtitles and scripts.
4. Process and deliver subtitle and script files online to client platforms.
5. Maintain proper naming conventions, folder structures, and organisation to ensure files are accessible to the correct teams.
6. Manage information related to scripts for accurate costing.
7. Create localized subtitle files for theatrical, broadcast, online, VOD, and social media content.
8. Import and conform incoming translations for localisation.
9. Encode and create subtitle files adhering to technical specifications for various content types.
10. Facilitate client/territory amendments and advise on specifications.
11. Resolve language-related issues through problem-solving.

Requirements

• Native-level English speaking and writing skills.
• Excellent stylistic and writing skills, especially in dialogue writing, with ability to self-review and edit.
• Extensive knowledge of best practices in subtitling and scripting, particularly for theatrical and online content.
• Understanding of subtitling and scripting conventions.
• Proficiency with industry-standard subtitling and transcription software.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Effective team communication skills.
• Experience or certification in audiovisual subtitling and scripting.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
