At Turning Point, we support people with substance misuse issues across the country. As a Substance Use Nurse in our Hammersmith and Fulham Service, you'll make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol. If you're passionate about helping others, you'll find opportunities for personal and professional growth, gaining experience and training to advance your nursing career.
Our service offers support to individuals across Hammersmith & Fulham. You will work within a busy team under the supervision of our Clinical Lead to improve the wellbeing of a diverse client base.
If you do not hold the NMP qualification, we will support you to train for it.
Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy the opportunity and support to enhance your own life and career, gaining valuable experience within a social enterprise. If you're ambitious and seeking a new challenge with a sector leader, this could be the opportunity for you.
As a Substance Use Nurse, you will support opiate substitute treatments, alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and promote the uptake of naloxone. You will also assist the nursing team with Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations, working closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. You will help develop collaborative links with outside professionals and agencies, including strengthening relationships with local hospitals and mental health inpatient units.
No direct experience of substance use is required as full training will be provided, but experience with health interventions for hard-to-reach groups such as the homeless is advantageous.
You must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council and confident managing both opiate and alcohol detoxifications within our team and partner agencies.
