We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Preston, a category B Prison located in Preston.

HMP Preston is a remand male prison age from 18+ and has a capacity of 680.

The Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber will be based in the 18 bedded unit in a prison environment.

Hours

This role is 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm over 4 days per week.

Salary

This position is a part-time permanent role, with an annual salary between £42,000 - £50,000 per annum / pro rata depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

  • Undertake Clinical Nursing Practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients.
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues, ensuring the maintenance of clinical excellence.
  • Provide treatment as required, including prescribing medication, within their sphere of competence.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients under care.
  • Provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans based on medical and treatment history.
  • Carry out a clinical review with the patient and update care plans accordingly.

Qualifications required:

  • Registered professional with current active registration (NMC)
  • RCGP 1 Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse - Essential
  • RCGP 2 Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse - Desirable
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework
