Job description

Substance Misuse Non - Medical Prescriber

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Non - Medical Prescriber to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Preston, a category B Prison located in Preston.

HMP Preston is a remand male prison for ages 18+ with a capacity of 680. The Substance Misuse non-medical prescriber will be based in the 18 bedded unit in a prison environment.

This role is 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm over 4 days per week.

Salary

This position is a part-time permanent role; you'll receive an annual salary between £42,000 - £50,000 per annum / pro rata depending on experience.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber, your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking Clinical Nursing Practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients
  • Providing expert professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues while ensuring the maintenance of clinical excellence
  • Providing treatment as required, including prescribing medication, within your sphere of competence
  • Carrying out comprehensive assessments of patients
  • Providing advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans, based on medical and treatment history
  • Carrying out clinical reviews with patients and updating care plans accordingly

Qualifications Required:
  • Registered professional with current active registration (NMC)
  • RCGP 1 Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse - Essential
  • RCGP 2 Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse - Desirable
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework
