We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Leicester, a category B men's prison located in Leicester.

Hours

The site currently offers Monday - Friday; 8am - 4pm, 1 weekend in 4.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care
  • Manage a small case load of patients
  • Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required

  • NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
  • Substance Misuse experience - desired
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
