Job summary

Sias UK is seeking experienced Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the nuclear sector to support development, review, and quality assurance of assessment materials and qualifications. This hybrid, freelance role offers the chance to contribute specialist industry knowledge across multiple projects and initiatives.

Working with Product Development and Assessment teams, you will ensure materials are valid, reliable, and aligned with occupational standards, supporting learners, employers, and training

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable occupational competence and industry experience in your specialist subject area.
  • Strong understanding of current industry practices, standards and developments.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining subject expertise.
  • Experience developing or reviewing assessment materials for qualifications, apprenticeships, or other regulated products.
  • Experience contributing to qualification development, curriculum design, or assessment design.
  • Understanding of apprenticeship standards, end-point assessments, occupational standards, or vocational qualifications.
  • Experience working with awarding organisations, training providers, colleges, employers, or professional bodies.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and principles relating to assessment and qualification development.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and/or Qualification Development
  • Develop and review assessment materials, assessment guidance, marking materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to the design and development of qualifications, units, learning outcomes, assessment criteria, and indicative content where required.
  • Support the development of apprenticeship assessment materials and associated assessment tools.
  • Ensure all materials are developed in line with relevant occupational standards, assessment strategies, regulatory requirements, and organisational processes.
  • Quality Assurance and Review
  • Review and evaluate existing assessment and qualification materials to ensure they remain current, accurate, and fit for purpose.
  • Provide expert feedback to support continuous improvement and enhancement of products.
  • Participate in validation, consultation, standardisation, and quality assurance activities as required.
  • Ensure assessment materials reflect current industry practice, legislation, regulation, and emerging developments.
  • Collaboration and Consultation
  • Work collaboratively with Product Development teams, assessment specialists, other SMEs, employers, training providers, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide subject expertise and sector insight throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support consistency and quality across assessment and qualification products.
  • Maintaining Occupational Expertise
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry developments, professional standards, and sector requirements within your area of expertise.
  • Undertake continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain occupational competence and ensure ongoing relevance of contributions.

We are seeking experienced Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the nuclear sector to support the development, review, and quality assurance of assessment materials and qualifications.

Working alongside our Product Development and Assessment teams, you will contribute specialist industry knowledge to ensure that assessment materials, qualifications, and/or apprenticeship products are valid, reliable, fit for purpose, and reflective of current industry practice. This role offers an opportunity to influence the development of high-quality learning and assessment solutions that support learners, apprentices, employers, and training providers

Key Responsibilities:
