Subject Leader of English

Start: September 2025

Location: Bradford

Salary: MPS - UPS + TLR2

Are you a passionate and dynamic English Leader or experienced Teacher seeking a rewarding opportunity? We are working with a vibrant and well-respected secondary school to recruit a Subject Leader of English to lead their English department on a permanent contract starting in the new academic year from September 2025.

This is an exciting chance to become part of a forward-thinking school community that values academic excellence, collaboration, and enrichment beyond the classroom.

The Role:

  • Lead and deliver English across KS3 - KS4 and up to GCSE Level
  • Deliver and ensure high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to a diverse range of learning styles
  • Manage a team of 3-5 Teachers and support staff
  • Promote and manage a supportive department that values innovation, fieldwork, and cross-curricular links
  • Contribute to the wider school life including trips, clubs, and parent/community events

Key Requirements:

  • A degree in English and Qualified Teaching Status in the UK (QTS)
  • Experience as a Deputy of Head of Department / Subject Leader
  • A track record of effective and inspiring teaching at secondary level including GCSE
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and willing to contribute to extracurricular and pastoral responsibilities
  • Managerial experience within an English department previously
