Overview

Contract: Permanent

Location: Hybrid (Head Office: Quorum Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne)

This is a hybrid working role, you'll be on occasions be required to attend meetings/events at Q6 (Head Office)

Hours per week: 37

Salary: Up to £35,700 depending on experience

About the role

We’re excited to be looking for a Subject Chair – Science with experience in the health sector to join ourSubject Chair team.

For this role you must be available to take part in occasional meetings in Newcastle upon Tyne and undertake key activities throughout the year.

The team are responsible for ensuring all NCFE assessments are technically accurate and compliant. The team works across many areas of the business to support with growing our qualification portfolio.

In this role, you’ll have exposure to sector experts across a range of technical fields. You’ll play a key role in supporting the future of NCFE qualifications.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Accountability for the production and sign-off of valid and reliable assessments, monitoring comparability between paper-based and on-screen assessments, particularly in relation to level of demand and validity of technical content
  • Overall accountability for ensuring all assessments and test specifications meet requirements set out in technical design documents
  • Setting and reviewing grade cut scores
  • Responsibility for ensuring the awarding of fair and accurate results, including setting and re-viewing grade boundaries, and maintaining standards in achievement.

We’d love to hear from you if you offer the following:

  • Educated to degree level in science or relevant equivalent experience, with relevant qualifications and specialisms aligned to the requirements of the role
  • Teaching and assessment experience of related qualifications
  • Experience of writing and/or reviewing assessment papers and mark schemes for qualifications in the Science industry
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar and spelling
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work accurately and consistently
  • IT literate using Microsoft Office, email and adobe acrobat reader, and open to using online applications/e- technologies
