Job summary

Thales Group in Glasgow, UK, is recruiting a Subcontract Manager/Senior Buyer for a hybrid role. You will oversee supplier contracts from order placement to delivery, ensuring on-time, quality and cost targets while managing high-risk Build-to-Print orders.

The role requires strong supplier performance management and a proactive approach to mitigating operational risks, with opportunities to mentor the procurement team. Security clearance is a consideration.

Qualifications

  • Working towards MCIPS, EIPM, CPIM, or equivalent Procurement/Supply Chain qualification.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Several years’ experience in regulated manufacturing, procurement, production, supply chain, or engineering management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier relationship management and operational performance with internal teams.
  • Define, track, and report on supplier KPIs such as delivery and quality.
  • Develop and execute supplier improvement plans for delivery, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities within supplier contracts.
  • Facilitate supplier performance reviews and contract milestone tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean and risk tools (DMAIC, PFMEA).
  • Mentor junior buyers on supplier performance and contract management.
