Job summary

TXM Recruit is seeking an experienced Indirect Buyer to join a South Molton-based aerospace manufacturing operation. The role focuses on owning supplier relationships across indirect materials, developing sourcing strategies, and driving cost improvements.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years in procurement, with exposure to aerospace or advanced manufacturing, and strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in Procurement, Supply Chain or Materials Management.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, motorsport, defence, precision engineering or advanced manufacturing.
• Strong supplier-management and commercial negotiation skills.
• Experience developing sourcing strategies and delivering cost savings.
• Knowledge of commercial terms, contracts and conditions.
• Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven approach with Excel.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Indirect Buyer to join an established aerospace manufacturing operation in South Molton.

The site employs more than 400 people and specialises in the design, manufacture and testing of high-quality aerospace components, supporting some of the world's leading aircraft and aerospace manufacturers.

This is a key procurement position with responsibility for managing a portfolio of indirect materials and services, developing strategic supplier relationships and identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, delivery and overall supplier performance.

The Role

As an Indirect Buyer, you will take ownership of an assigned supplier and commodity portfolio, working closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance and other internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing supplier relationships across indirect materials and services.
• Developing and implementing sourcing and commodity strategies.
• Leading commercial negotiations with new and existing suppliers.
• Identifying and delivering cost-reduction and cost-out opportunities.
• Driving improvements across supplier cost, quality, delivery and service.
• Consolidating suppliers and leveraging spend across key categories.
• Ensuring compliance with corporate procurement contracts and sourcing strategies.
• Resolving supplier, invoice, payment and commercial issues.
• Supporting the introduction and approval of new suppliers.Analysing total cost drivers and supporting effective sourcing and outsourcing decisions.
• Monitoring procurement and supply chain performance against agreed metrics.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded procurement professional who is comfortable operating within a fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environment. Ideally, you will have:

• At least 2 years' experience within Procurement, Supply Chain or Materials Management.
• Experience within aerospace, automotive, motorsport, defence, precision engineering or advanced manufacturing.
• Strong supplier-management and commercial negotiation skills.
• Experience developing sourcing strategies and delivering cost savings.
• Good knowledge of commercial terms, contracts and conditions.
• Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
• Strong analytical skills and confidence working with procurement data and Excel.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• The ability to work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering and Finance.
