HS2's new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK's best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

Upon completion, the station will feature six underground platforms and up to eight on the adjacent Great Western Main Line, providing high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. The station will include passenger and retail facilities to enhance the customer experience.

There will be significant interfaces involved with these packages, requiring high collaboration internally and externally with other contractors on site.

What you'll be doing

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, measuring, and interpreting specifications and drawings, proposing design and constructability optimizations to the design management team.
  • Producing high-level construction methodologies to support procurement, interface management, and early consenting requirements (logistics, noise, access, etc.).
  • Monitoring production outputs, checking data systematically, and contributing to analysis.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in leading risk and opportunity reviews, presenting the Risk Register, and recommending or implementing changes.
  • Managing interfaces between suppliers, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective communication for successful delivery.
  • Ensuring assurance activities and audits are conducted, recorded, and acted upon.
