BAM Nuttall is seeking an experienced Sub Agent to join the Fanellan HVDC Project near Inverness-shire. The role suits an established Section Engineer stepping up to lead engineering teams and support early planning through site delivery.

You will supervise engineers, ensure health and safety compliance, prepare method statements, and coordinate with site management and subcontractors. The position starts at Inverness or Kilsyth offices and moves to the Fanellan project site as construction

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Engineering required.
• CSCS card at supervisory/manager level or equivalent.
• SSSTS qualification preferred for site supervision responsibilities.
• Proven experience at Section Engineer level with ability to supervise and develop teams.

Job description

BAM Nuttall is looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join its team delivering the Fanellan HVDC Project in Inverness-shire.

This position would suit an experienced Section Engineer ready to take on greater responsibility, managing engineering teams and supporting the delivery of a major infrastructure project.

The Role

• Support the delivery of the Fanellan HVDC Project from early planning and pre-construction through to site delivery.
• Supervise, support and mentor Section Engineers, Site Engineers and Assistant Engineers.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and oversee method statements, risk assessments and site briefings.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation.
• Work closely with site management, engineering teams and subcontractors.
• Support project cost management and programme preparation.
• Coordinate with commercial colleagues to ensure accurate measurement and payment records.
• Promote the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in accordance with the project BIM Execution Plan.
• Work with the General Foreman to coordinate resources and prepare upcoming works.
• Assist with ordering materials, plant and subcontractor services.
• Monitor engineering team performance and identify training and development needs.
• Identify potential commercial and contractual risks and report them to the Agent.
• Help maintain effective relationships with the supply chain and project representatives.

Working Pattern

• Initially based at BAM’s Inverness or Kilsyth office.
• The position will move to the Fanellan project site in Inverness-shire as construction progresses.
• The role covers early contractor involvement, initial works, pre-construction and project delivery.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree or HND in Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• CSCS card at Academically or Professionally Qualified Person, Supervisory or Manager level.
• Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) qualification.
• Successful experience and performance at Section Engineer level.
• Ability to supervise and develop engineering teams.
• Good organisational and project coordination skills.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate with commercial and site teams.
• Confidence working with contractors, suppliers and engineering colleagues.
• A practical approach to solving construction and engineering problems.
