The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a major investment in the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield. TRU is a multi-billion-pound, long-term infrastructure programme aimed at improving connectivity in the North, supporting economic growth, and delivering benefits for passengers and communities along this key rail corridor.

TRU offers a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects suitable for various interests and skillsets. We are seeking to expand our team in the Huddersfield to Dewsbury corridor by hiring Sub Agents to work on the construction phase of this prestigious scheme.

Your mission

As a Sub Agent, you will be responsible for:

• Leading by example in health, safety, and environmental matters by ensuring compliance with policies through method statements, risk assessments, and briefings.
• Managing, supervising, and mentoring Section, Site, and Assistant Engineers to ensure high standards of engineering control and proper record-keeping.
• Maintaining good relationships with Alliance staff and supply chain partners.
• Promoting a cost-conscious approach by efficiently utilizing resources.
• Supporting the Agent in operating the cost management system and producing short-term programmes.
• Communicating effectively with stakeholders and fostering a collaborative approach.
• Encouraging the adoption and use of BIM technologies.
• Working with the General Foreman to ensure adequate work preparation and resource availability.
• Assisting the Agent in procuring necessary materials, sub-contracts, and plant in a timely manner.
• Conducting 1-to-1 meetings, PDRs, and supporting the development and training of junior staff.
• Identifying non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have:

• Qualification to ICE Technician or Incorporated level or equivalent (preferred).
• Proven performance and achievements in a Section Engineer role in recent years.
• Thorough knowledge of company health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
• Demonstrated growth in commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Completion of SMSTS qualification.
