Job summary

Caval Ltd in Scotland is seeking an experienced Sub Agent to support delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Based in Edinburgh, you should be comfortable travelling and staying away from home as projects require. You will assist with planning, coordinating site activities, managing site teams and subcontractors, monitoring progress and ensuring quality and safety on all works.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sub Agent or similar civil engineering role.
• Experience in civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Strong planning, coordination and problem-solving skills.

Are you an experienced Sub Agent with a background in civil engineering or infrastructure, looking for your next challenge?

We’re working with a specialist energy infrastructure contractor seeking a motivated and commercially aware Sub Agent to support the delivery of major projects across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business operating within the energy sector, contributing to essential infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced project and site teams.

Based in Edinburgh, travel and flexibility are essential for this role, so we’re keen to hear from candidates who are comfortable working away from home and supporting projects in different locations.

The Role

As Sub Agent, you’ll support the management and delivery of site activities, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works.
• Assisting with the management of site teams, subcontractors and site resources.
• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential delays or delivery issues.
• Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with project specifications, drawings and quality requirements.
• Promoting a strong health, safety and environmental culture across site operations.
• Coordinating daily site activities and ensuring adequate resources are available.
• Monitoring quality, maintaining accurate site records and supporting project reporting.
• Working closely with the Site Agent, Project Manager and wider delivery team to achieve project objectives.
• Identifying risks and resolving site issues to maintain programme and productivity.
• Supporting the successful delivery of energy infrastructure projects across multiple locations.

About You

We’re looking for a proactive Sub Agent who can take ownership of site activities, communicate effectively with stakeholders and help drive successful project delivery.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Sub Agent, Assistant Site Agent or in a similar civil engineering delivery role.
• Experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or energy-related projects.
• A good understanding of construction methods, site management and project programmes.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• A commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
• The ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and project management.
• A willingness to travel and work away from home as project requirements demand.
• Experience on energy infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
